The Late & Great Legends that left an incredible mark on our music-scape and put our region on a global map.
These are the groups that put music as their primary focus and help the business of music flourish. They often specialize or cater to a subset of artists and more often than not encourage youth, novice and aspiring musicians in those specific genres.
Music Education is essential to the future of music. Whether you’re a 5 year old prodigy or a 95 year old beginner, these educators help their students retain information AND inspiration at the same time. Music educators present an unconditional commitment to developing talent, gifts and abilities and are what make “Music Class” an essential component of a complete life experience.
The stores that carry our favorite local music and that keep our working musicians in tune.
Music Journalists are a special breed of artists in and of themselves. Crafting an experience from thin air and a “you had to be there” moment, these wordsmiths share more than just the information. “On the cover of The Rolling Stone” might not seem achievable to most, but if you’ve ever had a local writer fall in love with you as an artist, you might as well “buy 5 copies for your mother”.
Being able to “see ourselves” as musical artists happens through the eyes of a wide variety of other types of artists. Photography and videography, as well as other visual mediums, have evolved into a form of expression widely sought after in today’s society. When those individuals focus their lenses on our Northwest Arkansas music community, they are showing the world who we are.
Technical wizards who take raw musical ideas and turn them into polished recorded or live sound.
Promoters found something special in bringing talent and its consumer to stages across NWA. Creating a literal platform for a concert-goer to interact with the “upper crust” of talent all the way back to the mid-20th century, our region has now become a destination for entertainers of all levels of talent, from the intimate “listening rooms” scattered throughout our community to the sold out 12 thousand seat Arkansas Music Pavilion.
Venues. The House. The Hall. The Big Stage. The Room. Whatever you may be calling it for the night, these venues are our homes away from home. From staffing, to promoting, to providing a haven for the “new opening act” and being the place where we take our Final Bow. We owe it all to the places that open their doors to take a chance on us artists.
The ones that bare their souls to us. They are what Northwest Arkansas Sounds Like.
